As heartwarming as its predecessor, this read-aloud book is sure to become a family favorite. The story and beautiful pictures describe a mother and son preparing and going on a camping trip. I loved this book and the life lessons that it teaches. All day there was time to swim and fish and mess around outside, and every night, there was time to read. Instead, it is my love for them that pushes for them to do things independently. When a little boy and his mom go camping, mini-disasters abound, and there are lots of opportunities for Mom to step in and fix everything.
I think we are too afraid to let our kids fail these day and this mother, was kind and loved her child, but gave him the space to grow I think I was raised by the mom in this book except mine wasn't much of a camper unless it was in her fancy soft bed in the trailer. I do not know one father that is this way all the time. It addressed the stereotype most people have about men as caregivers. Thoughts remain 100% my own. Well, this one is better. I feel like fathers are lovable because children know that they are loved by them despite their quirks and Hmmm. Which is very hard to do sometimes.
