I have been on vacation so I have been unable to post any more of my series. In 1970 George joined the Sultans as lead singer and performed with them through their final breakup in 2007 - almost 37 years. After finish this video I came to the conclusion that doo-wop didn't evolve much, but it's still nice to have all the top doo-wop songs wrapped up into one video. George joined the Aztecs, a group of young men from Durrett High School, in 1960. Clair to sing with The Sultans, until they broke up in 2007.
Doo-wop sometimes doo-wopp is a style of vocal-based rhythm and blues music developed in African American communities in the 1940s, achieving mainstream popularity in the 1950s and early 1960s. . Bruno Mars is a musical renaissance man with his fingers in an amazing number of pies. When I was a teenager, I started singing for my mother and father in their country band. He sang with them until 1963 when he joined The Epics where he remained until 1966. Later, two of my brothers and I formed our own group, singing and playing music in the Tri-State area in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia.
John started playing drums with the Dynamics in 1962, at the age of 15. George Poole, again, pulled John out of retirement and he is now singing with The Doo Wops, which he feels is the best vocal group that he has ever worked with. I thank God every day for his blessings and for giving me something in my life that I enjoy so much. The band broke up shortly after John returned from the military. Mars handles the instrumental duties as well as the lead vocals here, bringing a unified feel to this eclectic, high-energy and altogether delightful effort.
In 1976, after working on the Alaskan pipeline, John and Fred Helm formed a group called Lite where he played drums and sang. However, I did have time to put together this video on Doo-Wop music. I am singing a lot of the songs that I remember my mother singing around the house when I was a child and I am loving every minute of it! The Chateaus recorded Moaning, Shake Sherry Shake, I'm the One, Summer Has Come and Gone, Since You Have Gone, and The Bells of Rhymmey. In 2008 George formed the group, The Doo Wop All Stars and currently, on most jobs, use the Wulfe Bros. In the early 80's, John, after being retired again, was approached by George Poole and John St.
This Deluxe Version contains two bonus tracks and two videos. I've had the privilege of sharing the stage with or opening for such greats as Gene Watson, Little Texas, Crystal Gayle, Ronnie McDowell, Neal McCoy, Ernest Tubb, and Little Jimmy Dickens; just to name a few. I am looking forward to seeing where this musical journey will take me. Later, those guys formed a band called The Shadows, with Sherry Edwards, but had to change the name of the group to The Chateaus because a band in England already owned that name. I most recently was asked to join The Doo Wops. . .
