Lady Georgina Stane is a strong and smart and a woman in love. Her mother breeds pugs and sells them for a great deal of money. Being so perfect doesn't make for an very interesting character. I adored each and every character in this story as everyone practically jumps right off the page. Sebastian took in a deep breath of the soft summer air, so different from the reek of London. Her father liked to study local history as well as any mystical subject.
The scents were unlike those around his childhood home of Langford as well. Soon it appears her fears may be well founded. Lady Georgina Stane is beautiful, witty, and brilliantly intelligent. This is the third book in 'The Duke's Sons Regency Series'. For years, his valet has covered for him, handling his correspondence, and he chose a career as a soldier, a vocation where reading was unnecessary. From his dress and demeanor, Sebastian concluded this must be the butler, Fergus.

The fact that these two truly love one another so much yet do not know each other as well as they wish ads an interesting twist to their relationship which until now has followed strict society rules. It's a secret he'll never tell, certainly not to his new bride-to-be. This one follows Sebastian obviously and Georgina. I do not plan on going back to read the previous books in hopes to catch up to what I missed.
I certainly haven't been put off this series of books, and will read the others in the series with the hope that they are as fabulous as the first one that I read. So we see him being a nice guy. This book was difficult to finish--not because it was a bad book, but because there really wasn't much excitement throughout the story. Two pugs had appeared in a surprise flanking movement, and he was pretty sure he recognized the larger one from his earlier skirmish. The story meanders on toward the finale. Will the secrets that brought them together tear them apart? What a miracle it is that he's found the perfect bride.

It had taken two grooms to remove him, squirming and kicking and protesting that he would ride Thunderer, he would. The hero and heroine are appealing. And what will happen to sister Hilde when she is loosed on the ton, or maybe I should rephrase that and say what will happen to the ton? Witty, charming with a wicked hilarity! A pack of pugs came down the hall flowing like a school of fish around the Hindu man. So many characters in one book dilutes the plot in my mind. Certainly there is little enough said about what went on in London before their betrothal. And then there are the monster younger sisters who are underfoot all the time and make diabolical plans to try to move the wedding along quicker! Georgina Stane is gorgeous and bright, and fortunately her family is rich enough to be considered eccentric rather than utterly crazy. This is how Georgina first sees him after his long absence.
The first time he saw her he thought she was the most beautiful creature ever. Her historical and contemporary romances have been published in Sweden, Italy, England, Denmark, France, Russia, Latvia, and Spain as well as the United States. The book can easily be read as a stand alone one, but with a series like this one I find it's always nice to read the previous books first so that you know more about some of the characters that are mentioned in the latest book in the series. Certainly there is little enough said about what went on in London before their betrothal. One dreads to even contemplate what the future might hold for the whole Gresham family and when Sykes' pen comes home to roost.
