The Back Road

At around mile-marker 25, the hilly up-and-down road ends after you cross a very small wooden bridge. I probably won't try another by this author. It was an event which happened the night before a very long narrative of a group of neighbors invited to a house remodeling celebration. And, it gets even worse when one of them kills a man. Laundry costs and any shipping charges for the return of purchases made on tour, or for the return of property lost on tour.

The Back Road

While it is nearly half the book until that character is reveled for who they are, you still get large sections of the book that are told from the antagonist point of view. What is surprising is just how many of these seemingly respectable, apparently privileged people are leading double lives and engaging in various forms of deceit. I wasn't disappointed and with having Tom changing his career choice and scene, it was nicely set up for a different type of crime story. With the holiday season upon us, it is time to start thinking about what you might plan to make for your holiday meals. Ultimately, The Back Road is worth a read. For that person, the accident spells disaster, and somebody has to pay.

The Back Road

This dish is everything you're craving for the fall season, or anytime really. Sure enough, Alamo had no restrictions about taking that road. Hesitant, I decided to take a look for myself using Google Maps Street View. Thankfully, the Pokowai sea arch and blossoming wiliwili trees remind you this is not the desert. Half-sisters Ellie and Leo have done a good job hiding the pain they experienced as children in a dysfunctional family, and now that they are grown up, they continue to maintain the façade. Leo is happy there are no traces of old memories and settles down to enjoy her sister and also battle her own demons. Seems so, at least to those who were there. In Nonfiction and Fiction I will include a wide range of my and other people's writing. The Back Road

Every time I picked up the book I had to go back several pages to refamiliarize myself with what was going on. Unfortunately, the part of Highway 31 that goes through Wailea, does not connect with the part of Highway 31 that brings you to Hana. But as he is drawn into the web of deceit, his every instinct tells him that what happened to Abbie was more than a tragic accident. At the end of the world war, several German soldiers return home to their city to find the social fabric and civil order disintegrating as communist gangs roam the streets and food and jobs become scarce. I don't think I have ever read an author that writes with so many layers. Characters that briefly flitted in and out of the story became main players at the end but we didn't learn enough about them for this to be very plausible. One village is struggling to hold tight to its secrets. His favorite destination on Earth is his adopted hometown of Healdsburg, California. Only one person knows the whole story - why Abbie was out that night, and who was driving the car. It is truly a spellbinding novel of suspense. Thank goodness for Google Maps see below! Villano also wrote the family travel blog for Parenting magazine, and an adventure travel blog for SeeAmerica. Just when I think I know who the culprit is, there's another twist that makes just as much sense thrown into the fray.

The Back Road

This book hit one of my pet peeves: the incredibly clunky scenes where the author goes to ridiculous lengths to try to hide the identity of the person whose actions are being described. Tom is great and I would have liked to have seen more of him. Using a fork, drizzle over the Brookie squares. Special thanks to guest reviewer Betty of for contributing her review of The Back Road. Additionally, food shortages, no jobs and a broken economy spell disaster for the men and their families.

The Back Road

The mystery of the hit and run is kept secret almost to the end of the novel, and then it come as a complete surprise. That one complaint about the characters aside they all worked for me, both the ones I liked and the ones I hated. It was as if the dreadful act of a hit and run driver acted as a catalyst and the still waters around the small town were erupting with seething turbulence. There is a slightly claustrophobic feel that centres on the group of characters in almost Agatha Christie mode. This book tries hard too hard to be full of suspense and thrills but it plods and is predictable. I recommend this novel to lovers of suspense set in the English countryside where you can never truly know who your neighbor is and the secrets they may be keeping. I give The Back Road a 4.

The Back Road by Rachel Abbott, a Mysterious Review.

The Back Road

Review: The Back Road by Rachel Abbott is an absorbing mystery of love, deceit, secrets … and murder. I understood it without reading the one before; though had I known I would have read that one before. I did find Ellie to be a bit annoying but that was probably me getting frustrated with the way that she was dealing with the stalker. All I can say is don't waste your time with this book. Then, in true Agatha Christie fashion, all these people were reunited the next day at a dinner party, hosted by Ellie, who was out herself on that Back Road, and inevitably, the discussion turned to the accident and why she was there.

The Back Road

Some things I think about when it comes to Valentine's Day is chocolate, sweets, and the color red. The last 10% of the book is mildly interesting but it's capped off with a lengthy explanation of the most predictable and unnecessary subplot of the entire book. Ellie, meanwhile, who is trying hard to cling to the happy life that she fears may be unravelling around her, is a rather pitiful character, yet she is also the focal point of much of the novel's considerable tension.
