The customer service was okay. We are so grateful for their kindness and extraordinary efforts on helping us at every step. We didn't feel like waiting for a table so we sat at the beautiful bar. The Modern was phenomenal in every way. She listened carefully to what I like. Don't just go for the weekend Brunch.
You get a glass of bubbly one day, unasked. The short rib was dry, like they forgot to put a sauce on it. The steak and crab was great value although minus one star for the quality of the meat , it wasn't the greatest. After waiting more than 35 minutes for our food, the food arrived cold. The chicken, while seemingly overpriced for a chicken dish was unique, extremely tender and flavorful.
Do that a few times and you will see how amazing this place is. Had a quick dinner here before grabbing the ferry from Nanaimo. My conclusion: If you go for the decent food and drink lots of good value wine, the snotty service won't seem that bad. In fact the Scrambler is based on a Bonneville with limited off-road capabilities and a heavy-duty look just like a is meant to be. We will definitely be back! The food is really outstanding.
Its no big deal, the meal was well worth the cost. We received a visit from the supervisor a few minutes later came to tell us that we could take back the cold food or we would wait at least 30 minutes for them to remake the food as they were backlogged in the kitchen. We would go back for a second try, but if we find they have not hired friendly and approachable staff it will be the last time. This was our first visit to the Bar Room, and they lived up to The Moderns two Michelin star rating. The place was packed, and smelled of delicious Midwestern breakfast. Do you have a favorite modern cafe racer or did we missed one? Since the scene for cafe racers is constantly growing, motorcycle manufacturers saw a new niche: the modern cafe racer.
Modern love — I visit the modern frequently. I would clone this woman a 100 times if i was running this establishment. A separate street-level entrance on West 53rd Street allows guests to enjoy the restaurant and bar beyond Museum hours.
Breakfast All Day Long on the Weekends?? Which one is your favorite? We asked our waiter to have the food heated up for us. At one point in the evening, when it appeared as if the addition of another diner in the standing-room-only room would trigger a finger-wagging visit from the fire marshal, Jim Grell emerged from the kitchen door, with Wesenberg in tow. My girlfriend got the lobster ravioli and I got the steak with crab bernaise sauce. We spent about 3 hours and truly savored both the food and the experience. Great knowledge of wines and food, friendly and attentive without being over present. My only reservation is the serving staff. Ask the staff to recommend a wine for your order.
The pastas are inventive and tasty. If you want to go out to eat and have a nice dinner without distracting tvs or excessively loud music, this is a good place. Only thing is I would skip dinner as the food doen't change only the price. Sure, it's more than the chain restaurants. Service was prompt and very friendly.
I think that's an advantage of sitting at the bar at any restaurant, you're not forgotten. The kitchen needs to seriously up their game, they are just phoning it in right now. Great Food, Wine and Service — How could green beans and tofu be this good-yum! What is that, maybe 100 meals? Our staff will prepare your food with the same care and attention they provide our individual café customers, and will make sure your special event is nothing less than a masterpiece. Tasted like standard shrimp cocktail served in always-difficult-to-navigate martini glass. Decorated in crazy artist grandpa cabin chic, the burgundy curtain framing the makeshift foyer felt dramatic, like i was making an entrance.
Great gluten free options for those needing it. Also, the space is really beautiful. They are right about the potroast. Our food was up in about 30 minutes. Heck, even the pickles approached hall-of-fame status. I'd try something else next time. My dad's Bengal prawn linguini with coconut curry sauce and cashews was equally rich and generously portioned with at least 8 prawns.
Cons Another review mentioned a wet dog odour in the left side when you face the kitchen. Very good, unique food in a great location. Museum admission is required for entry. The burger I had was really bad. Yeah, the 'We Ate' part. Count on a lot of neck-twists when riding this beauty! Another 10 minutes to process it and no thank you for coming or departure greeting when this place is so small, normally part of its charm, that everyone can see who's coming and going.
